Aistear -The Post Office

OFF

This month’s Aistear topic was ‘The Post Office’. We provided lots of materials for the children to write their letters – paper, envelopes, pencils, pens. They all wrote letters to their friends and put them in envelopes. The teachers acted as scribes for the children where necessary. We had lots of props to support the post-office related play – stamps, glue, envelopes, paper, post-cards, money, a post-box, weighing scales, clock, boxes, wrapping paper, pens, leaflets, a satchel, signs with opening and closing times.

They took turns dressing up as a post-person to deliver the post.

They had great fun writing & posting letters in their class post box!

Once the children had written their letter, placed it into the envelope, addressed the envelope and bought the stamp they were ready to post.

The children couldn’t hide their excitement when they got a letter from the post-person to bring home.

They were also very busy sorting the post….

Weighing the parcels.

Working behind the counter selling stamps & envelopes.

The children built homes, schools & shops for the post person to deliver the post to.

The children even got to make their very own post box.
