Pancake Tuesday!

OFF

Children in every class around Scoil Mhuire Junior really enjoyed getting to make and taste pancakes today as we celebrated ‘Pancake Tuesday’. There were delicious smells all around the school!

We needed eggs, milk and flour to make the batter for the pancakes. Once all the ingredients were added to the bowl, we mixed them together with a whisk. We used a little bit of oil on the frying pan, waiting until it was hot and then we poured a ladle full of the mixture into the pan. We flipped the pancakes, waiting for them to turn brown.

We were also very lucky to have a choice of toppings to add- chocolate spread, sugar, lemon, marshmallows, maple syrup, honey or butter.

Pancake Tuesday is the day before Lent begins. It was known as the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients!
