Learning about mini-beasts and insects!

OFF

The children in First Class have been learning about minibeasts. We went on a ‘minibeast hunt’ around our school grounds- we were in luck as we found lots! Underneath the logs near the yard was a perfect place to start. We found it to be an ideal habitat for centipedes, beetles, woodlice, spiders, snails, worms, ants and more! It was ideal as it is damp and dark so the minibeasts loved it!

We also found some in the ‘bug hotel’ but it was mostly spiders that we found here as they liked the straw and different materials here. We made lists of the minibeasts that we found, observed them closely and drew some more detailed drawings from observation. We had lots of fun!!
